I love Keifer its my husbands name but i do want to warn you that the name can come with some horrible teasing. My poor husband and the two other men i know named Keifer were called Quiffer all there school years.

Keifer is German. Unless you are German it looks very silly on a random baby.

It reminds me of the racial slur Keffer which is how white people used to call black people during apartheid in south africa and many people still do. Its much worse the the N word.

I don’t really think it matters, but I do have German ancestors - my great grandparents came from Germany and Wales on one side, and Germany and Ireland on the other. I don’t think it would look silly on a random baby, I know babies named Liam and Aidan who aren’t Irish and their names fit them just fine.

I’m not loving James, Jon or Chase so far, but thank you first poster!

Wow great grandparents yeah That doesn’t really count. I wouldn’t use this name if you have no immediate ties. Names Like aiden and liam are very popular names thats why its okay/ plus they sound very american this one isn’t so it will look silly.

Isn’t it spelled Kiefer?

I’m not sure why that person is saying it will look silly, it won’t, at all. I’m sure some people probably thought Aidan and Liam looked "silly" at first also... Plus, she doesn’t know how to use comma’s and capitalize names/words that are supposed to be.

It’s totally okay on a non-German baby! But you should spell it Kiefer. Keifer would be pronounced KAY-fer in English (first syllable rhymes with LAY), or KAI-fer in German (first syllable rhymes with LIE).

By the way, I totally love this name :D
