Gabrielle Rose vs. Nickname Abby / Abbie?

We LOVE the name Abby / Abbie, but not Abigail so much. Can it be short for Gabrielle (which we love)? Brothers and sister’s names are Ethan Miles, Juliana Grace and Wesley James.

I think so. :) I’d spell it Abbie or maybe Abi. I think I like Abi best.

I think you’d be just fine to do that. I was reading the John Adams biography the other day and his wife was Abigail and sometimes went by Abby, but his daughter was Abigail and went by Nabby. I think if you’ve got the "ab" in the name, you go whatever direction you’d like. You’d just have to state your preference because people will assume she’s a Gabby.

Gabby and Abby are so close, why not just use Gabby. You’d avoid a lot of confusion that way.

I think of Gabby not Abby when I think of a nn for a Gabrielle or a Gabriella. or Elle, Ellie or Ella not Abby..but I guess Abby could be a nn for it. But I like Gabriella better..Gabrielle reminds me too much of Gabriel. and I like Gabby better then Abby for it..But if you are absolutly in love with Gabrielle nn Abby I think it could work. GL
