Mabel Matilda vs. Matilda Mabel

We know we will be using the family names Mabel and Matilda for our daughter, we just can’t decide which order. We love both names- each just has its own pros and cons. We think Mabel is very sweet and we would be open to the nicknames Mae or Belle, but some people have said it is just too grandma-ish. Matilda is very cute, but we would want her to only be called that- we can’t stand any of the nicknames like Mattie, Tilda, Tildy, Tilly. What do you think? Thanks!

If you can’t stand Matilda’s nicknames, then don’t use it in the front because she will inevitably be called by those nicknames.

I think Matilda Mabel best, but I agree with the above poster. If you don’t like the nicknames, you probably shouldn’t use the name as the first name. People will always resort to a nickname, whether you want it like that or not.
