Asha vs. Spelling?
We desperately want to give our daughter the name that is pronounced Ay-sha. We like the spelling Asha best so far, but we worry that it will mispronounced Ash-uh. We’ve thought about Aesha, Aisha and Aysha, but they don’t look near as pretty as Asha. Any ideas? Siblings are Nolan Price (4) and Camden James (22 months). Thanks, Ellie

Yeah, definitely change the spelling from Asha because everyone will want to say Ash-a. Aisha i think is the correct spelling.

Aisha is often pn eye-ee-sha and Asha would be ash-a, I think Aysha is the best bet, to avoid confusion

I looked it up and the proper spelling is Aisha. Aisha can be pn. two ways,however-ah-ee-sha or ay-sha.Aysha is a variant and is only pn. one way- ay-sha.

Aasha would also work and closest to your original spelling. It works and looks fine with other double "a" spelling in names like Aaden, Aaron, Aaliyah, etc. But otherwise I’d just do Aisha, the original spelling.

i used to know a girl at college, i can’t remember whether her name was spelled Aiysha or Ayisha. i like Aisha and Aysha. i do think Asha is pretty, but i would say it ash-a, i don’t think it looks like ay-sha at all
