Samuel \"Sam\" Joseph vs. STRONG NAME? vs. WEAK NAME?
My wife loves the name Sam for a boy. I am trying to warm up to it but having difficulty with two perceptions I have of the name: 1) It sounds a little weak 2) it can also be a girls name. I am looking for a strong, traditional name. Is this a good one? Any better ones? Thanks so much for your input.

It think it is a very strong, handsome name. I also like Joseph Samuel, which I think flows better. Joseph is a very strong name, but if you don’t want to call him Joe or Joey (kind of weak sounding), I wouldn’t use it because when he gets into school, I am pretty sure kids will start calling him Joe or Joey. My son is in a class where there is a boy named Joshua. He goes by Joshua, but all the kids call him Josh. So, I would expect that. But, anyway, Samuel Joseph is a great name! Good luck!

Samuel Joseph is quite strong and very handsome! :) I always feel sorry for girl "Sammi’s", as Sam & Sammy never feel the slightest bit feminine. And this is coming from a Mommy of a girl Josephine! :) Samuel Joseph is a handsome stand out amongst all those -aden soundalike boys out there today, I think you’ve made a wonderful choice (If mine’s a boy, he’ll most likely be Edward, ’Ned).
Warm up to Samuel, he’s so wonderful! I wish mine liked it, but he says ’we already have a Simon, thats enough S for me’!
I hope that helps!

I think Samuel Joseph is perfect. It’s a good, strong name in a sea of today’s sound-alike names. And if you want him called Samuel, don’t let anyone call him Sam or Sammy. Until he’s old enough to choose which he prefers, you set the tone.
Great name...it’s got class!
