Kohle vs. Khole vs. other

I love the name Kohl/Cole/Chole and want to use it as my baby girl’s middle name. But i need to decide on the spelling - i want it to look as feminine as possible without looking made-up and ridiculous. Do either of the two options (Khole/Kohle) look reasonable? All suggestions are welcome, she’s due in two weeks!

Can’t even begin to pronounce them..looks so much like a teenager named her..why do this to a child?

Hm, just so you know Chole is a common girls name...short for Nichole.. I actually know a couple personally. Not that hard to pronounce if you use your brain :)

And i’m obviously asking for opinions BEFORE i name her, so no need to be so critical!

I would just spell it Cole. I would definitely give her a more feminine middle name, though. Nicole nn. Cole would be cute too, and then she’d have a more professional and feminine name if she ever wanted it. Good Luck!

1. Chole is not at all a common girl name
2. If you want opinions they may not all be positive
3. If an opinion is not positive it will be negative--if you can’t handle it then ask people who won’t tell you the truth like friends and family
4. Posters 1 and 2 did not say anything out of line

Cole/Kohl is a boys name and is pronounced like coal. Chole/Khole looks pronounced ch-ole. Are these supposed to be pronounced like Chloe? Because these "names" aren’t Chloe. Grammaticly, they aren’t not pronounced like Chloe. If you want the name Chloe, go with the spellings Chloe/Chloey or Khloe/Khloey. I like Khloe.

If you must use it, then use Cole or Kohl. I personally wouldn’t use it on a girl, though. Coley or Koley would work, though....

Agree, use Chloe if that’s what you were going for. Chole/Khole just looks like a misspelled Chloe.

Yeah well this would be her middle name that’s why i’m not TOO worried about how it looks since her first name will be girly. Idk, i just love the name Cole so much!

1.It may not be common wherever you’re from, but here it is :)
2.Really? I had no idea!
3.Gee you’re smart :) But i don’t recall saying anything about "positive" or "negative" comments. I said "critical" :)
4.And I was referring to Poster 2, who spoke as if I had already named my child this, which would also be incorrect :)

thank youu!

I agree with poster # 5..don’t ask for opinions then!

Save Cole for the next child who may be a BOY!
posted by guest :: 13 years ago | report
Oh yeah, I’m going for the Cole pronunciation, not Chloe! I guess my next question would be is giving a girl the middle name Cole too boyish/doesn’t matter since it’s middle name?

who knew naming babies could be so hard

Cole is a BOY’s name, use it for when you have a BOY.

Yeah, i have a feeling i’d be regretting it if i ever do have a boy!

My suggestion is wait to use Cole for your future son. Nicole or Chloe would be nice for a girl, but Cole would be confusing for her. Especially if you spell it Khole or something. She\’d always have to tell people she\’s a girl when they hear the name and tell them how to spell it is they see it.

Firstly I hear many other "boy" names on girls... Spencer, Ryan, etc. So if you like it as a middle name I think it’s fine. I personally am not a fan of boy names for girls.
But I do think Cole is your best spelling.
Nicole, Colette, or Nicollette are more feminine options, but hard to help much without knowing first name. Maybe repost for a fresh start with a few 1st name ideas you like.

I love masculine names for girls ESPECIALLY with a femenine name joined with it. Its very sheek to me. My nieces name is Gracin Monroe and it carries a strong independent but femenine "feel" to it in my opinion.
