Benjamin w/ nickname Jamey vs. Fine vs. Too much of a stretch

Daniel Joseph and Gabriel Jordan are our amazing twin boys. They are 4. We are now expecting another little boy. We definitely want to name him Benjamin, and we’re pretty near set on Keith as the middle name. We’re just wondering if Jamey is too much of a stretch for a nickname? If it is, then we’ll go with Ben. Thank you, Russell, Sarah, Danny & Gabe

I think it’s fine, but I would spell it Jamie to make it easier. Benjamin Keith is a wonderful name, and there are a lot of great nicknames for it!!
Benji
Ben
Benny
Jamin (cute!!)
Jay

We thought since the Jamie spelling is used on girls a lot that Jamey might be better.

I see what you’re saying, but Jamey will only get misspelled through his life. Besides, it’s pronounced the same as it is for girls. Definitely go with Jamie, or James if you’re really concerned. :)

I think Jamey is just fine as a nn for Benjamin. I think either Jamie or Jamey would work. Jamie isn’t too feminine for a boy, IMHO. Good luck!

Jamey’s cute and different. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch, and very cute for a baby-toddler-little kid, but once he hits middle school, it might be too babyish of a name. He might eventually want to be just ben, so i would remember that. It could also be a family nn. I was Isabel, and my parents called me Bella through high school but when i went into third grade i got people to start calling me either Izzy or Isabel

I know two males named Jamie who are almost 30 (one is actually a Jamey)...he’ll let you know if he wants a "more mature" name to go by...I think Jamey works fine for Benjamin, not too much of a stretch, but I do prefer Ben...he’ll have his own preference soon enough though! My Genevieve just announced a few months ago that she wants to be Genny, a name we never planned to call her, but we’re going with it

Yes, we’ve thought of him wanting to change his nickname too. We’re fine with just about all of them. That’s why we picked Benjamin - so many options and we love all of them. Thanks for your thoughts!
