Alex vs. Xan vs. Xander

Is Alexander too dated? We like the name and would either call him Alex, Xan or Xander. Which nickname is the best? Is Alexander a good choice? Our other kids are Carter Sebastian and Lillian (Lily) Hadley. If you like Alexander please suggest unique middle names, like Sebastian and Hadley (nothing too crazy). Thank you.

Not sure how it can be ’too dated’ when it’s currently ranked number 6 in the US on the SSA’s charts for 2010.

I don’t particularly like Alexander, but it is definitely not dated. I think it’s in the boys top 10!! I definitely think Alex is too plain, but I LOVE Xander and Lex. Great, strong, masuline names. GL! :)

I don’t think Lex is too girly. Its what my inlaws call my son for short. A friend of ours has a daughter who shortens her nn to Lexia instead of Lex...
