different vs. spelling for vs. Brighton
My boyfriend really likes the name Brighton for our little boy, but I don’t really like the spelling. I was just wondering if you have other spelling suggestions that people would still know how to say the name. Also, I don’t want to give my peanut my boyfriends last name because I feel like there is nothing saying that he is in this for the long hall. What are your views on that? Thanks!

I also like Layton.
And I believe if he’s not going to be there in the long haul, then give your son your last name. If you wind up getting married later on down the road, you can always change is last name then.

Keep Brighton. It’s the best, easiest and classiest spelling.
Give him a hyphenated or combined surname (ie: my friend’s parents’ surnames are Smither and Kemp. They combined them to Smitherkemp for their children). You can always change it if anything happens.

It depends whether your son will ever have a relationship with your son because when he is older he will ask about his dad and therefore may prefer to have his dads surname as he will be living with you but if you feel like your son will only be yours then go with your surname as he will be yours!
You could always use a fn you like then give him his fathers surname because there is no point calling your son a name that his father wants if he is not going to stay around so choose a name you like that means something to you!

It’s not that I don’t think he is going to stay around, I have just always said that if I wasn’t married or engaged to someone and having a child with them, I would not give them his last name. But now that I am in the situation, I don’t know if I am being selfish
