Is This vs. A Bad vs. Idea?
Hello everyone. My name is Jacalina (jace-suh-lee-na) and my husband’s name is Jason. We’re expecting a baby boy in August and my husband has been pitching the name Jace Ryan for the past 2 months and up until recently, I was sold on it. Jace is our personal nicknames for each other. Everyone else in our lives call him Jason and me Jaycee. He suggested that we name the baby Jace Ryan (Ryan being his middle name and father’s name) and we just go back to our original nicknames. At first, I thought it was really cute, but now I don’t know. I’m used to being called Jace by him, so I guess it’ll be weird to not be called that anymore :( plus, I’m starting to wonder if giving the baby our nicknames is kind of selfish on our parts. I love the name, but I’m having doubts. I want some outside opinions on this before I go to Jace (hubby) with this. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Not selfish, but I think it will get very confusing when your down the hall calling one another or whatever. Probably not the best idea but it is cute! How about another name that starts with J that away you all still have the same letter :)

I think it’s a cute idea. But if you ever have any more kids, they might feel left out because they aren’t a "Jace"

i think Jason, Jacalina and Jace is too close. plus if you have more children, how many more Jace names can you use, it’s just going to get too confusing, or your future children are going to feel left out. give him the mn Jason/Jace or Ryan and his own first name, because although he’s a part of the two of you, he’s his own person. how about

Totally agree with the others - great idea, but will get really confusing, even if you and hubby try really hard to stop using that name for each other. And any future kids might feel jealous that the first-born got such a special name. It’s not like naming him after a relative, when there are other relatives to choose from for the other kids.
