I am not really a fan of it unless the first name is a family member’s name and it would be confusing to have two Johns in the house.

I really don’t like it.. I always kind of feel lied to when I learn the person’s real first name. And I always wonder why the parent’s didn’t just use that name as their first name if they liked it so much.

I don’t mind it if there’s a good reason. For example, my grandmother HATED her first name and went by her middle name as soon as she was old enough to voice her opinion. What I don’t understand is why some parents knowingly give their child a first name they never intend to use, all in the name of ’flow.’ Those people are nuts, if you ask me.

My father always went by his middle name and it eventually got way to confusing. Some people would call him John and others Mike/Michael. Ify you want them to go by thier mn just make that their first name and come up with a new mn.
