Depends where you live. Here in England it is EXTREMELY popular and has been for many years (I could name you a Charlotte from ages 0-90)

No it’s adorable! My daughter Elle knows not a single Charlotte in her daycare and she’s almost 2. But, my son Mason is 5 and knows about 6, so idk. it could just depend on your area.

I don’t think it’s the next Sophia as I think the name Charlotte has been around for so long, it’s always been quite popular whereas Sophia came out of nowhere.

Go for it! It’s a gorgeous, timeless name. When pregnant with my daughter it was a name we were considering. Finally when she was born we chickened out as there were 3 Charlottes born within my stay alone, so she ended up being called Ruby Charlotte which, when suggested to us by the midwife, we fell in love with.

we are considering Clara Charlotte and Cecilia Charlotte if we don’t use Charlotte as a first name. I just don’t want to regret not using it. BUT I really don’t wnat her to have to be Charotte J. - my 6 year old had 4 Sophia’s in his kindergarten cl[removed]ophia T, Sophia R etc etc. That is no fun!

I say go for Clara! My friend in high school was a Charlotte and she was nicknamed Charlie the entire time, which she hated. In primary school I remember she was Lottie, while the other three Charlottes were Charlotte, Charlie and Char. Not fun

’I just don’t want to regret not using it’

I know exactly what you mean. When pregnant with my first I named the bump Olivia as I absolutely loved that name and had no doubts. Then I got online in search of a middle name and I saw how popular the name was! Tbh, it did throw me a bit. With me being a 80’s born Sarah I knew what it was like to have a popular name. My own mother reminds me how she spent night upon night after preschool explaining to me that my name was not ’Sarah 3’ but plain out Sarah. In the end, bump Olivia was named Olivia and I’ve never looked back. Yes, you’re in the supermarket and you hear the name called in every aisle, but it doesn’t bother me. I think you’re just made notice it more when you’re aware. My advice... if you really love the name, go for it! Don’t just choose second best because it’s less popular. Charlotte’s popular for a reason, it is a very pretty name!

I’m 19 years old, and my name is Charlotte. I think it’s a beautiful, classy, smart name. I get lots of compliments on it. I used to hate it when I was little, but now I’m SO glad that my name isn’t Brittany or Ashley or Emily. My nickname is just Char, which is alright but gets pronounced "CH ar" instead of the appropriate "SH ar". I think if you’re going to name your daughter Charlotte, you should call her Charlie or Lottie. Those are way cuter. My middle name is Anna - a simple name, but it works well.

Oh, and I also got the nickname Chaz a lot from friends.

Just because it’s popular in some areas doesn’t mean it is in all areas. The youngest Charlotte I know or have heard of is 22 years old. I love the name, it’s beautiful!
