August vs. Augustus vs. Gustav(e)

We are 9 weeks pregnant and hoping for a boy. My grandfather’s middle name is Gus (just Gus) and my boyfriend LOVES it! But I am not sure I want it to be our son’s name by itself. We came up with three similar names and now can’t decide. We also don’t have any middle names to go with any of them. Any help?? I like the first two because I think the nn Augie is cool too but he thinks it’s too close to Aggie, any thoughts on that??

Love the name August. I know 2 little boys with this name,one goes by Gus one goes by Augie. I think both nicknames are masculine and nice.

Love the name August too. Augustus is a bit much for my taste, but still a cool name. Gustav is a name in our family tree from a couple of generations ago. Seems very Norwegian to me.
