I agree with the first poster, I have never cared for this name on either sex, sorry. If I heard the name, though, I would automatically think boy. Good luck!

There is something surprisingly nice about Porter Rose but I honestly don’t think I would ever name my daughter that. Taliah Rose is pretty though.

It’s a boy’s name, and it’s also very easy for bullies to use. If the kid is anything but thin, they will call him Porker.

Porter for a girl is not uncommon in the South, often used from one generation to the next in "old" families.

My three year old cousins name is Porter and the name goes with his personality. He is a crazy out going little boy. And I love that name. The name is an uncommon name.

I named my son Porter (7 now) and kids have begun calling him "porter potty" it makes me so mad/sad for him. I regret the name but am hoping he grows into it and kids are kinder (yeah right) He has a good solid middle name of James as a backup if he ever chooses to use it.

My maiden name is Porter and I regret not naming any of my four children this, not even as a middle name. I'd say if you like it, go with your gut. Kids will always make fun of others anyway. Porter is a very old and classic, respectable British surname and is common in New England where I'm from, and popular as a first name among southerners for boys. But with a feminine middle name like Rose, it takes on a whole new vibe that is fresh and modern.
