Averie vs. Avery vs. Girly-est way to spell Avery

I was very against naming my daughter/son a unisex name until I came across Avery. I fell in love with it however I only love it for a girl and HATE it on a boy. If we have a boy his name will be Mason. I need to find the most girly spelling for Avery to make sure everybody knows for sure that it’s a girl! Thanks! Suggestions are welcome!

I like the spelling Avery best. If you live in the US, I’m sure everyone will know Avery is a girl. It’s like the name Lindsey.. sure, there are some 40 year old men with this name, but nobody names their son this anymore.

Stick with Avery to avoid misspelling issues throughout your child’s lifetime. Averie looks a little flighty to me and more like a bird aviary. GL.

The problem is that when people HEAR the name Avery, they will not hear the fancy, girly spelling. So they may still think she’s a boy when they hear it for the first time. Whether you like it at all for a boy or not, lots of other people do, and to them it will always be a boy’s name.

I agree with the first poster. In the US Avery is all girl.

Yes, I live in the US. I was concerned because there is an Avery(boy) on my son’s football team. I still think I will stick with Avery if my baby is a girl.Thank you all so much!

I don’t think it’s really accurate to say that Avery is 100% girly these days. I’ve seen several polls from people considering Avery as a name for their son. Or they are looking for a name for a new baby, but they already have a son named Avery. I saw one on Baby Center a day or so ago. So it’s definitely being used a lot for girls. But not exclusively.

Well, there you go... If there is a boy named Avery on your son’s team, it clearly is not exclusively a girl name now, as some would have us think.

I’ve never known a boy names Avery. Only girls.

Avery is NOT all girl. Not even here in the US. It is both genders. I’ve talked to a lot of people and some have never heard of it for a girl & some never for a boy. Me & my husband love the name and have decided whether our unborn is male or female that will be the name.

We named our daughter Averie for a few reasons: 1) it looks more feminine (to us); 2) whenever I look at Avery... all I see is "A. Very".

I named my son Averey 5 years ago no one as ever assumed he was a girl. I choose Averey cause when I wrote Avery it just made me think A very. I just personally didn’t like it. But it does annoy me when he comes home with school paper from pre-K this past year with it spelled wrong. Just something you have to deal with is people spelling it the way they think it is or should be. From Christmas present to birthday presents too. But all in all I’m happy about what I choose! My parents choose to spell my name very different so I knew how it would be.

My name is Averie, my mom picked this spelling since she thought the normal spelling of Avery was not girly. I love how I spell it, even if Starbucks or any other place spells it wrong. I've only met a few people with my spelling, but I've come across two cool spellings I do like.
Averi
Avrey

In a story I'm writing, the lead character is a boy named Avery (spelt Averry Averrey, I haven't decided). I'm only naming him this because he thinks it's a girly name and goes by his middle name; so it adds to the story plot.

For a girl I would use:
- Avery
- Averie
- Avri

I spelled my daughters name Avri Jayde and I absolutely love it! She's almost 2 and I've heard "Avery" as both a boys and girls name here in the US. Although, I feel that it's a girly name and I spelled it differently bc I just don't like how "A-VER-y" looked lol. I think spelling it Avri is so pretty and girly and I've never seen it spelled this way (except from above 🙌🏼) but I have seen it spelled "Ayvri" which is so pretty and girly too.

Until now, I had never seen it spelled Ayvri, I really like it. My daughter's name is spelled Avrey and I love it!. I chose that spelling because its unique. I have never seen it spelt like that anywhere and i like that uniqueness. like other posts, i could not overlook the fact that the common spelling (Avery) looks like A Very and that was a complete turn off for me. Also due to the fact that A-v-e is sometimes pronounced Ave (as in Avenue). I couldn't get over that either.
