Franklin vs. for a vs. girl?
Do you think the name Franklin could be for a girl? My husband just passed away a couple months ago, and I found out I was pregnant a little while ago. It is a girl and I want her to feel connected to her father.~Amber

It seems to masculine, but a name with a nickname of Frankie would sound fine. I’m very sorry about your loss.

I think that Franklin would be a good middle name for her, honor her Father, but give her a more feminine first name.

It’s nice that you want to honour him, but remember that your daughter will have this nane her whole life. Most people won’t stop to ask her the meaning behind the name, they’ll just think it’s weird.
You could use Franklin as her middle name. That way it could be a connection that the two of you know about, but won’t mark her out as "the girl with the boy name". Or you could use a part of the name Franklin for her name. Perhaps Lynn, Frances, Francesca, or Linda. Also, I think there’s a name like Faylin/Faelyn or something (said FAY-lin).

Not only is it a manly name, it’s also putting a lot on your daughter. There’s many names you can use like Frances, Francesca, Francisca, Francine, etc. Or like other people said use Franklin as a middle name.

I agree with the above posters that Franklin would make a beautiful, sentimental middle name. For her first name, how about...
Eliza Franklin
Ava Franklin
Leila/Lila Franklin
Lia/Leah Franklin
Eleanor Franklin.
Or you could try a name that sounds like Franklin. I prefer Frances. Hope you like some!

I am sorry for your loss! Franklin would be an amazing mn.
But you could always name her something starting with the letter F.

I went to school with a girl named Frankie. Just Frankie. I always thought it was so cool! I would say to go with some name that Frankie could be used for or use Franklin as a Mn.
You could always use Frankie Lynn (last name).
Gl and I’m so sorry for your loss!

My last name is Lee so I don’t think Frankie Lynn would work, but it was a good idea! I don’t want to CHANGE my husband’s name, but I don’t see the harm in shortening it.
I think I will name my daughter Frankie. Thank you all for your help!

No, no, no, no, no. Franklin is NOT a girl’s name. It should NEVER be used on a girl in any manner whatsoever. Where are people getting the idea of giving girls boys’ names?
Franklin is always a good, strong, masculie name, but many "Frank" names have feminine variants you can try. Frances, Franka, Francine, Francesca, even Franny. Just please, please, PLEASE don’t use Franklin on a girl.

Have you actually read her reasons for calling her daughter Franklin in the first place? I think under the circumstances you can make an exception "kiki"
I love the name franklin for a girl and the meaning behind it is beautiful :) try shortening it to Fran and change the spelling slightly so it looks less like a boys name *franklyne or something
So sorry about your husband <3
