Barnaby & Benedict vs. For Twins?

Hi! I got really good feedback on the name Barnaby for one of my sons. I was wondering whether you think Barnaby & Benedict are too close for twins? Their nicknames would be Barney & Ben. Could you suggest middle names for them? We don’t want them to be too long! Thanks!

Vintage names like these are so endearing!

Hearing Barney and Ben makes me smile, as it reminds me of these lines from "It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" as sung by Bing Crosby:

"A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots Is the wish of Barney and Ben;

"Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk Is the hope of Janice and Jen;"

The name meanings are great, too!

My recommendation is ...

Barnabas/Barnaby Jabir [or] Nehemiah

Barnabas/Barnaby = Greek/English for "son of consolation"
Jabir = Arabic for "comforter"
Nehemiah = Hebrew for "God has comforted"

[and]

Benedict Asher

Benedict = Latin for "blessed"
Asher = Hebrew for "blessed, happy"
