Both spellings you gave will yield people calling the baby Mack-yah. Go with Makaya or Makaia, as suggested above.

It’s pronounced Ma-ky-a (long "i" sound) sort of like Mariah.
The only problem with "makaya" is that I know a girl who just named her daughter this, but it is actually pronounced the way it looks Ma-Kay-a ("a" sound, instead of "i" sound) The only other spelling I thought of were - Makiyah or Makaiya.
