I think they are both fine. Maybe go with Matthias if you will call him Matt.

Needs the two TT’s...Looks better and the word Math isn’t in it which is a plus...nice name by the way...much prefer it to Matthew.

I think it depends on how you want it to be pronounced

Mathias (MATH ias)

Matthias (MATT ias)

I personally like Mathias, it is softer

I like Matthias better, but you could go either way. I think the spelling Matthias is Biblical though. I like Matthias Luke and Matthias Hugo. =)
