Hmmm, I like the name Adelaide, and I could see Adley as nickname for Adelaide. Good luck!

Awful. It’s a surname, rarely used as a boy’s name. It means SON OF ADAM. Not much that says ’girl’ there. Try Adelaide

People on here get way too worked up about the meaning of a name. Addison means the same thing and it’s in the top 10 for girls names. I wouldn’t let the meaning alone change your mind. It’s a great name.

I like it. It can be used on boys but so can a lot of other names! Adley would fit right in with all the other current girl names.

People need to know what words mean, willful ignorance is the reason sheeple blindly follow brainless fads. Why’s Madison used on girls? Because a screen writer used it for a character name in a movie As a joke. Before that it never had appeared as a girls name, so all the little girls named son of maud are the butt of a screen writers joke....Girls should be allowed to have girls names

I’m not a fanatic about name meanings. But I do think they should be given a little bit of consideration. When I was kid, I remember a lot of my friends going through a phase where we were all looking up our names to see what they meant. It was kind of fun to find out that your name means "beautiful" or "Beloved" or whatever. I think it would be not so much fun to find out your name means "Ugly Head" (Kennedy means something to that effect), or "Son of _____" if you are a girl. It’s just something else that one might want to think about when naming a child.

Eh, aside from the meaning (which I didn’t know and usually doesn’t bother me), I really don’t like this on a girl. Sounds extremely masculine, nicknamey and last namey to me.

I think Adley is a beautiful name! Don’t let the meaning stop you from choosing a name it doesn’t even matter to me what a name means its just a name people and if it sound good to you and you like it then thats all what really matter. GL =)

Thanks everyone for the comments! A few name websites I found actually said this about the meaning..
Adley \a-

dley, ad-ley\ as a boy’s name is a variant of Adlai (Hebrew), and the meaning of Adley is "God is just".

So I guess it just depends on which site you look at! I am not one that places an extraordinary amount of my decision on name meaning but many very popular girls names mean "son of". Madison means son of Maud, Addison means son of Adam, and Mackenzie means son of a wise ruler. Just a thought! :-)

I love Adley for a girl. I agree with a previous poster that people get too wrapped up in the meaning of a name.
