Zurishaddai vs. Zurina Shaddai
A few weeks ago my husband and I came across the name Zurishaddai (zur-ih-shaddI, long I sound). It is Hebrew/Israeli and means “The Almighty is my rock and strength.” We are falling in love with this name, but my poll a week or so ago revealed that not many people liked it. We still love it, but now we are also considering Zurina Shaddai (Zur-eena ShaddI). Zurina is Spanish/Basque and means “Light,” and Shaddai can be Hebrew, meaning “Almighty” or Persian, meaning “happiness.” We still love Zurishaddai better, but we’re willing to go with Zurina Shaddai as well. What do you think?

Its a very unique and beautiful name I like Zurina Shaddai it breaks up the uniqueness whereas the other one just looks like a bunch of letters combined, the meaning is gorgeous too. Good Luck. :)

I’m not a fan. Its a nice meaning but I’m not loving the names. Maybe choose one (Zurina or Shaddai) and use it as a mn.

Zurishaddai would be a first name. Zurina Shaddai would be a first and middle name combination.

Are you sure of the meaning of Zurina. I thought it meant white. I’m not a fan b/c it reminds me of the dog food Purina and I’m sure there is teasing potential with that.

That’s odd. I was sure I saw that it meant "light" somewhere (we were looking on the internet for variants of Zurishaddai). I’ll look again.

You’re right. I just looked again, but cannot find it meaning "light." We were looking at so many names, so I must have switched meanings with something. Anyway, yes, I stand corrected. Zurina means "white."

I don’t know if you will like this, but I did a quick search on similar names and found Zarina. It is African and means "Golden One." There was also Zaria, also African, which meant "Blossoming flower."

Thank you! I do love both Zarina (so close to Zurina) and Zaria. I’ll share them with my husband when he gets home. Thanks.
