Maisie vs. Mairead

I LOVE Maisie but I wanted to give her a longer name for when she’s older and needs a professionaly name. In doing research I found that Maisie is short for Margaret of Mairead (pronounced Mah-RAID). I’m American and not even sure I could pronounce that properly but it intrigues me. My older daughter are Michaela and Marin. Both Scottish origin names so this would fit too!

Go with Margaret (nn Maisie)--- in the U.S., Mairead looks VERY made up.

I kind of agree with poster 1. Or you could go with Maeve (may-vee) which is Gaelic and similar to Maisie. It is ’professional’ in itself but still cute for a little girl. :)

Marin and Mairead are too close for my liking. Margaret and Marin are even too similar. I think Michaela is Hebrew and Marin is Latin so I don’t know where you’re getting that their Scottish in origin. Do you like Madeline/Madeleine, Matilda, Megan, Melanie, Miranda, Muriel or Morwenna?

Wow! Real nice pp. I see where some websites say Michaela is of Hebrew origin but Michaela is also said to originate in England/Scotland. Marin is a very common Scottish name.

I say go with Maisie on it’s own. You don’t need a longer version.

Stick with Maisie, it’s much nicer than the others.
Also I don’t get why people on this website think names that end with the ’ee’ sound are "unprofessional". It’s very strange!

I don’t think all "E" ending names are unprofessional but Maisie is traditionally a nickname. Thank you for the input!
