Erin vs. Aeron
We’re not finding out what we’re having, but my husband and I decided that our first son’s name will be Aaron. If we have a girl, her name will be Erin :) However, we saw the female spelling of Aeron, and thought it was a unique twist on a name most girls would spell one way. WDYT? Thanks! -Perry Family

I prefer the traditional spelling of this very pretty name. I am not such a fan of Aeron. Sounds like a airline or airmail brand/company to me (?) I do however like Ariel or Arielle, or Erina, if you want something similar to Erin, but different.

Aeron is not another spelling for Erin or Aaron.
Aaron is a Hebrew boy name.
Erin is Gaelic for Ireland
Aeron is a unisex Welsh name meaning ’battle ending’
Aeron is original, but looks a lot like Aaron, so people will make assumptions.

I would assume Aeron was a boys name like Aaron. I think the spelling looks masculine than Erin but the pronunciation is more feminine than Aaron (Erin automatically sounds feminine as it a common girls name).
Choose the name that has the pronunciation you like...
Aeron = air-in
Erin = eh-rin

If anything, Aeron definitely looks more like a twist on Aaron. And the pronunciation would be closer to that as well. But I think all three are actually similar, yet completely different, names. Erin is best for a girl.

Aeron is as previously said a Welsh name and an unisex one to boot, but the meaning given (battle ending) is a bit euphemistic.
It means carnage or slaughter an is mostly pronounced Ah-ron

I prefer Aeron, but either way you shouldn’t have your children’s names so similar. Having an Aaron and an Erin/Aeron wouldn’t sound so great (even though they’re both good names). Maybe make one a middle name instead?
