I know three Shanas all spelled the same way. Two go by Shay nuh and one goes by Shah nuh. I prefer Shay nuh.

I would definitely hesitate before attempting to guess how Shana was pronounced. I would say Shay-na and then probably Shaw-na with Shann-a being my last guess. None of which I’m fond of.

SHAH - nuh. at least thats how my parents and i pronounce it but its irritating how everyone teaches me how to pronounce it and tellls me you say it wrong. Like honestly, its just my name. And people start telling me its shay nuh and shwan na.

It’s Sha-nah. Like the old group "Sha-na-na". Nothing hard about it. No extra n’s or w’s, or u’s. Just Shana. It’s my name, so I know.

My name is Shana and I pronounce it "shay-na." I have grown to hate the "shah-na," pronunciation, as I’ve been called that my entire life. So! Definitely throw a "y" in there if you like the long "a" sound. Won’t clear up all confusion, but it will help some.

I'm a Shana too and I pronounce it "shay-nah." I've always liked my spelling, but I agree that it causes a lot of confusion, lol we all have to learn how to deal with people messing up our name all the time! I moved to South Africa 2 years ago and pretty much 100% of the people here think it's "shaw-nah." People tell me it's actually how the British spell Shawna, but it might also just be because most of them have never heard the name "shay-nah" before, IDK.
