I like it fine, I think if you live in the states it’s best to go with Mathew because that is how people will spell it when hearing it. If you live in an area with more French leanings I think it’s alright.

I agree with first poster in that Matthew might be a better spelling. I understand trying to make it look a bit more unique if your last name is "Smith" or "Johnson," however, my preference is for the more traditional spelling.

poster 3 Mathieu is the French form of Mathew and is pronounced really similar depending on the accent the speaker has.

Poster 3 is correct. It may be the French form, but its pronounced Mah-tyoo (srry, it kinda looks silly, which might not help your case.) Its not pronounced the same as Matthew which makes it different names.
