I’m so confused! vs. Help with The pronunciation vs. Keer-sten!

I like the pronunciation of the name Keer-sten. I did a few polls, and they made me really confused. Half of the people said it was originally spelled Kirsten and that the spelling Kiersten was made up. The other half said Kirsten was pronounced Kur-stin, and that the correct spelling is Kiersten. I, personally, like the spelling Kirsten better. Would that work? Which spelling is pronounced Keer-sten? Thanks, and sorry for any confusion:)

Personally I only know one person with that name and she spells it Kirstyn. Also, I like Kiersten a lot. Hope this helps.

I pronounce Kirsten as KEER-sten. I think Kirsten Dunst pronounces her name this way, too. I know a lot of people say Kirsten in pronounced KUR-sten, but I know just as many pronounced your way. And I much prefer you pronounciation of the name!

I agree with the posters above. I pronounce Kiersten KEER-sten, and Kirsten KUR-sten. GL!

I think Kirsten is Kur-sten and Kiersten would be said keer-sten. Either way I’m sure she will have to always tell people the correct way to spell it and say it. As long as that doesn’t bother you, use the name and the spelling you want.

Kirsten is pronounced KEER-sten as is Kiersten.

Kiersten is the spelling you want. Kirsten is KUR-STEN.

Obviously, Kiersten would be keersten cause think about the word wierd. the "ie" makes a long "e" sound in both cases.

Kirsten \k(i)-rs-ten, kir-sten\ as a girl’s name is pronounced KERS-ten. It is of Scandinavian and Latin origin, and the meaning of Kirsten is "follower of Christ".

Kierstin \

ki(e)-rs-

tin,

kier-

stin\ as a girl’s name is a variant of Kirsten (Scandinavian, Latin), and the meaning of Kierstin is "follower of Christ".

Does this help?

Okay thanks guys! The majority of you seemed to think that Kiersten was the spelling for my pronunciation. Even though I like the spelling Kirsten better, I’m going with Kiersten.

I pronounce them all Keer-sten until told otherwise by the person. Personally, if you don’t want any pronunciation issues I would use Keirsten or something similar, because clearly other people will pronounce Kirsten as Kur-sten. This is the major reason I don’t like this name.

My name is Kirsten,(pronounced Keer-stun)
I hate it,I wouldn’t even wish this name on my worst enemies.
I have to constantly correct people, even when I told them how to say it.

My name is Kirsten, pronounced (CURSE-ten) it drives me nuts that people always call me Kristen or Kiersten (keeer-sten). I don't like that eeeer sound and it's like nails on a chalkboard when people say it that way. I always try to explain that it's like FIRST (1st).... explain to me why you cannot just say KIRSTen?? Another way to think of it, Kirstens are Cursed with this name. I go by a lot of nicknames, K, Kir, Kirstie (like Kirstie Ally) or just my last name sometimes. This name is a **** headache. Always ask anyon with a variation of this name HOW THEY PRONOUNCE IT because you never know and it's just plain rude and lazy to do otherwise.

As someone with the name Kirsten, pronounced "keer-stin" please do not name your child this. I wouldn't wish this name on my worst enemy.
