Piper unisex?! vs. Yes vs. No way!
Ok I’ve wanted to name my daughter piper for years. Now that we are trying to have a baby, I’m still set on it for a girl. Ive gotten numerous comments on here that piper is unisex....is that really true? I’ve never heard of a boy piper and it seems very very feminine to me....I just can’t see it on a boy, but people are saying my daughter will have a unisex name...Am I wrong?
The Top Baby Name is...

I don’t think it unisex at all. Just female. Never heard it on a boy before

Since Piper is an occupational name, it IS UNISEX. While largely given to females, I’ve seen boys called Piper (on this website and others). For anyone to say it’s just a GIRLS name would be incorrect and they should do more research before spreading false information.

Occupational names are actually mostly MALE (Cooper, Sawyer, Thatcher, Fletcher). Piper is included on this list. Hasn’t anyone heard of the Pied Piper? Wasn’t the Piper a MALE? Yeah, afraid so! Piper is chosen more for girls today but to say that it’s just a girls name is plain WRONG.

Just because people can’t SEE a name on a boy, doesn’t mean it’s not a BOYS name too! Meredith, Bailey, Riley, Avery, Madison and Addison are STILL boys names even though they’re largely given to girls. Piper IS unisex and hopefully people will soon wrap their heads around that fact.

Piper is cute, and I think of it more as a modern name than a unisex name.

I am in the minority here, but Piper should be neither. It’s not a good name. Sorry

A unisex name that is now used mainly for girls. There’s no denying that’s it’s unisex but if people want to hide their heads in the sand then by all means do so! Denying the obvious can’t change the truth.

Unisex? Yes. That’s a fact.
A good name that ages well for either gender. NO.

It’s unisex, but it’s also horrible. I despise it, especially for a girl.

At one point it might have been, but I’ve only ever heard of girls named Piper. Personally, I don’t think it’s attractive for either gender.

my name is piper, and i was born a female. i wish it was unisex, though. as it stands, i am genderfluid, so if it truly was unisex, that’d be the best thing for me, i think uvu

I like the name Piper, it reminds me of Piper McLean from Percy Jackson HOO, who is a strong female character. I definitely think it's a unisex name and I think it would be a really cute name for a girl but also a unique and cool name for a boy. To be honest, I almost prefer it as a boys name because to me it isn't incredibly feminine. But it is definitely still a sweet name for a girl too. In my opinion Piper should be a more common male name so it isn't seen as a girls only name so much.

I know a few girls called Piper but no boys. That being said however, it is a unisex name and I really like it for both a boy and girls name.

It's a unisex name but why is that a problem?

Being a young man named Piper, I find that it is a unique name, especially for my gender. I understand that a lot of the people on the website may be stuck in old ways, but i don't necessarily think that names or colors display gender in any way.
