Hi guys, Ive been hearing this name alot lately and I think its really pretty, possibly for a middle name. but Im wanting to know how yall pronounce it. Care-is..or Ka-riss...and if you like it, how would you spell it, Ive seen so many variations. Carys/Caris/Karys/Karis...

Caries means tooth decay/cavities.

I wouldn’t use this or any spelling variation of it as a name.

Carys. It’s a Welsh name.
KA-ris is how it is pronounced. Care-is is the more common American pronunciation.

It’s a Welsh name and there it is pronounced Ka-ris. As though the name Carissa is missing the A. That is the proper pronunciation. Carys is the original spelling.

Carys is the proper spelling ka-ris or kare-is are acceptable though the former is the original

Its pronounced Ka-ris, and if you need an alternative spelling, the original is Cerys. I love the name and think its so pretty. GL

My name is Carys and it is pronounced KA-RIS,I am Welsh and my name is the original spelling, personally I hate it when people change the spelling and I don’t personally know anyone who is Welsh and names their children Karis or even Karys, it is mostly Americans who do that I think. I do know a few Cerys’, I am not a fan of that name though.

If you want it to be Karis then spell it Karis the Greek way pounced Care-iss
