Reuben is my favorite spelling. Ruben is more of a surname for me. Rueben is just bad.

I choose Rueben. following the two vowel rule. when two vowels are together the second is silent and the first says the long sound... the first is just plain wrong to me

To the person citing the "2 vowel rule":
That is a rule for English. In German, for example, with the vowels "ie" or "ei" in succession in a syllable, the 2nd vowel is the one pronounced. Anyway, Reuben, from Reuven, is a Hebrew name, and if you spoke Hebrew you'd know that the "Reu" syllable as we see it in English is actually 2 syllables with the "e" rather elided; but it is still "Re" and then "u" - in which case Rueben is simply an incorrect transliteration. Sorry, but so it is. Also it's worth noting that most Indo-European languages with variants of this name spell it Ruben, as in Spanish, which has an aigue accent over the "e", giving its syllable more emphasis than the first, as is also the case in the Hebrew language of origin.
