I like Rebecca nn Becca. I know two Beccas. One is my age and one is 2. I only know 1 Becky and she is my mother’s friend. Does that help? I think Becca is a cute nn for Rebecca.

Thanks, that does help. I told a couple people that we were going to call her Becca and they came up with Becky. I don’t think they had heard Becca before, but I think it’s been around for awhile. Thanks for your post.

Becca is one of my favourite nicknames for Rebecca. I’ve never liked Becky, especially since I read a book a few years ago about a Becky who permanently got called Beaky.

As long as you call your daughter Becca, I would think most people would follow your lead. Some people may try Becky, but once you correct them, it shouldn’t be an issue.

That said, no nickname is preventable. One day, your daughter may decide that she prefers Becky to Becca, and that is something that you will have to accept. Unless she really objects, you will always still be able to call her Becca.

I would use Rebecca as the full name, just to give her something a little more substantial to use should she need it. And as long as you enforce the nickname of Becca, Becky shouldn’t be a problem.

i think becca doesnt need to be a nn, her first name could just be becca.

I’m 15 and my name’s Rebecca. Friends and family call me Becca, but everyone else uses Rebecca. There are 3 ’Rebeccas’ in my Biology class (including me); only one of us writes ’Becca’ on her papers. If you want everyone to call her Becca, then name her that, otherwise she’ll be called Rebecca by teachers and other authority figures.

I have also heard of Bekah!

I love Rebecca, nn Becca. I do think you should name her Beca, but you don’t ever need to call her that, you can always call her Becca.

a friend of mine went by Bekah. i really like Lizzie, and wouldn’t use Elizabeth, just Lizzie.

I never realized so many people hated the name Becky. My name is Rebecca, I have gone by Becky for most of my life except for a short time in college I went by Becca, and then in graduate school I went by Rebecca. After reading everyone's post I now realize most people HATE my name. WOW!
