Made-up names vs. Traditional (or common) names vs. Alternative spellings of common names

Hi everyone, just wanted your thoughts on the kinds of names you’re into when naming a child and whether you consider making up a name to be more unique or go for a traditional name or go for a traditional name with an alternative spelling. What are the pros and cons?

While there are lots of traditional, well-known and classic names that I love, I would personally not use a name that I heard too often - there’s more than enough really unique names that I love just as much. I really dislike traditional names with alternative spellings however - to me they look messy, uneducated, and more often than not take away from the beauty of the original name
