Since Sinead O’Connor, I think most everyone knows how to pronounce the name Sinead...so I don’t think it’s necessary to change it. I prefer the original, personally.

The original looks less made-up, obviously. I think yours would have a different pronunciation and looks rather ridiculous.
I don’t like the name but I prefer the original Irish/Gaelic spelling.

I like your spelling of it better.
It might be that we’re all fairly young and silly about certain things but my husband and I both didn’t recognize the initial spelling of it, and had trouble pronouncing it until we saw your spelling of it.
I didn’t think to associate it with Sinead O’Conner, (we’re a busy family and don’t spend much time in front of the tube at all) however the name with your spelling is charming in a way.
My mother gave me the unusual name of Infinity, and everyone calls me Finnie for short.
I change up the spelling of it to Infinitie sometimes, since it gets compared to the car, when really it was supposed to be a "forever" thing. But my point is, both spellings are good. And if your son doesn’t like them; he’ll most likely change the spelling to a way that he DOES like them. :] good luck.

To the pp - Sinead is for a girl, not a boy. And as I am Irish, our traditions mean a lot and it would just be awful if you changed the spelling just to make it modern

One of my twins is named Sinéad -- I am also of Irish heritage, and I feel the same way about changing such a classic, beautiful spelling to make it more modern. Obviously, I may be a bit biased, but I think Sinead/Sinéad is definitely the way to go :) I can’t imagine my little girl having any other name.

I dont want to make it modern, i want to make it easier on my child whilst their growing up, instead of them having to correct people on their name all the time. I dont feel like i should change my name choice either just cause its ’complicated’.

My name is spelt as shanaide and I’m foreverspelling my name out for people which can be annoying at times but is also spelt uniquely I was pretty much the only girl who was called shanaide spelt this way and in my opinion it’s spelt how its pronounced sha-nai-de instead of sin-head
