I like unisex names on girls. But there is no way, none, that Lincoln could ever be consider unisex. You might as well pay the therapist now. She is going to need one.

We see nothing wrong with this name. We saw it on a tv show and fell in love with it. If you are all going to be this rude about it though, then your opinion isn’t needed. Now if you actually want to help us then please do, but not these very mean comments!

If you can’t handle these comments think what it is going to be like for your child! Just because you hear a name on tv, btw its the last name of a president, doesn’t mean it makes a good first name for an actual real life person. Some people are so clueless.

I don’t think there is a nice way to say how absolutely wretched this name is for a girl. But I would rather hurt your feelings, then see someone later hurt your child’s feelings b/c you would rather do whats fun for you than what is best for your child. I suggest asking a female friend to go places and introduce herself as Lincoln. Watch people’s faces. Or just ask people at stores, etc about the name. I read a great article that said someone will always hate a unique name b/c its not there style etc. But when everyone you ask hates the name then its no longer unique its just a burden to your child. Don’t create unneeded burdens for your child.

I don’t even know why you think Lincoln is good name for a girl. Its harsh sounding. It was made famous by a man so its most associated with being masculine. Its nn Linc isn’t attractive for a girl. None of it works. And I love unisex names on girls, used one for mine. But when nearly everyone says its awful, you know what its awful. And to ignore that and play stupid about it, doesn’t hurt us. we go one with our lives. It hurts your child. And so it will eventually hurt you b.c when your child hurts you hurt. And to know that you are part of the reason your child is hurting is going to be hard to live with.

Can’t explain why you like the name? Can’t explain why it won’t be a burden? Can’t say how it won’t hurt your child? Maybe you shouldn’t use it then.

Please, there is absolutely nothing gorgeous about it. As the previous poster said its harsh and masculine sounding. As far as you don’t hear it often on girls, there is a reason for that Kallie, it doesn’t work. And I find its unique a cop out to really answering the question. Rabbitt, by your own its not heard very often, would be unique. It doesn’t mean it should be used.

Jessa and Ben,
I am very sorry that you had this reaction to such a beautiful name. I hope their negativity does not dissuade you from naming your daughter Lincoln. I personally think that we are free to choose what name we want for our children. I pray she is a healthy and happy baby.
To all you people who don’t like the name,
I list names that are ’masculine and harsh sounding’ as you say:
Dylan
Blake
Colbie
Jonnie
Bobbie
Dakota
Kennedy
The list can go on and on.
Once again Jessa and Ben I am very sorry.

Hiya. Lincoln is a great name choice (I’m called Lincoln!). Anyway, I think that you should definitely go for something feminine, or something inherited.
Try:
Lincoln Frances
Lincoln Augusta
(or if you’re really stuck, Lincoln Elizabeth Jean. Always worked for me!)
Congratulations on your child!

I must say I came across this thread while searching for my upcoming daughter that we plan on naming Lincoln as well. I’m searching for a middle name for her. You people are horrible! I totally understand having an opinion, and to each there own but to totally tear down someone’s name choice for there child is unreal to me. Get a life!! How about constructive words, and options instead of nasty rude remarks! Disgusting!!! I love the name Lincoln for a girl it’s beautiful and I believe it’s very unisex. I actually really like Lincoln Elizabeth :)

I absolutely love the name Lincoln for a girl and am thinking of naming my daughter Lincoln. Thank you to all of the blunt and harsh feedback, you have cemented my decision and inspired me to be different and open minded. I am moving forward with this name. Maybe your children will be more open minded than your generation.

Love the name Lincoln for a girl. Its the name my husband and I have decided on. I actually have more trouble seeing it as a boys name. To me it has a Kennedy/Reagan feel that is beautiful. Our girl will be Lincoln Eleanor (after my grandmother)

I know this is wayyy late but I absolutely love the name Lincoln. I don’t understand why people are so hateful! It’s beautiful, especially when paired with a very feminine middle name. I pray for these people children... with parents so close minded, I hope that it doesn’t rub off on their children. Anyway, I hope you did name your daughter that. I’ve chosen Lincoln Amielle for my babygirl :)

All of these ppl are crazy and probably named their children Neveah, Skyler, or something lame. This is a little late, but my daughter, Lincoln Isabella, is to be born soon and there’s not another name I would pick. Congrats, most kids will be jealous anyway...Lincoln is a name with a lot of thought put into it, and doesn’t come from the "Hi, my name is Tiffany" factory.

Omg I googled the name Lincoln for a girl because we are going to name our daughter Lincoln Isabella. I was curious of what people had to say and now I know:) I was reading through this thread and all of the negative remarks made me chuckle a little, the hostility is quite perplexing, relax folks. All I can say is to pay the haters no mind. Your child will make any name that you choose a beautiful one, not the other way around. Lincoln is a awesome name for a boy or girl. Congrats on your babies. We are having our first soon and are so excited!

I was searching for a name for my little brother, who’s almost here btw, and I saw this. I am absolutely horrified to see what people say about this name, about MY NAME! My name is Lincoln Skye Hudson and everywhere I go people say how unique and wonderful my name is, and specially on a girl! Well I AM A GIRL!! And I’m really proud of my name!! So I’m here to say and spread the message to everyone that wants to name their daughter Lincoln, please do it. We need more names like this one. And people’s views are different so one can say it’s masculine, the other will say it’s not! It doesn’t matter!! I thank my parents for giving me this name. I know I’m young ( I’m 15 btw) but I tell it from experience. Don’t let these people change your minds. Stick with Lincoln!

We are naming our boy Lincoln! It's a grey unisex name! People will be mean but that says more about them as a person. I was born in 1987 and my parents named me Randii. A girl named Randii and with two "I"s? Unheard of and many people didn't like. Guess what there are many females named Randii now and people love my name. If you like the name, that's all that matters,m. Babies grow into the name anyway :)

Wow! In total disbelief at the comments on this post. I'm sure these people named their children Sara, Ashley, Jessica, or some other common name that 4 other people in their class will have growing up. I have a common name and have absolutely hated it my entire life. Be unique people and stop being sheep ✌🏼
