Madelyn vs. Molly
I am torn. I love these two names so much!
Molly because that was my grandmothers name, and we had a very close bond. I also think the name Molly ages very well, my grandma loved her name!! My husband really likes Madelyn and I do too! I think it’s beautiful.. But I can’t stress enough about people calling her "Maddie". I can’t stand that name, I have met so many "Maddies" it’s starting to get sickening. I really really really don’t like Maddie. But the name Madelyn is pretty.......HELP?!

@ Poster 1, we have thought about that, but we don’t like the idea of using two names with the same first letter. Molly Madelyn Rogers just doesn’t flow in my opinion :( But thanks!

I voted for Molly as i considered naming my daughter Madeline as it’s gorgeous and i love it, but i just couldn’t stand the prospect of her being nicknamed ’’Maddie’’ to be honest this nickname seems inevitable, you have no control over which nicknames people give your child, only their initial name. I’ve come to the conclusion that if you name your child Madelyn/Madison/Madeline - They’re going to get Maddie. Molly is gorgeous though, it honours your grandmother, it ages well and sounds great, good luck!

I agree that there’s no way to prevent Madelyn from being called Maddy. It might help to give her a different nickname such as Madge or Lyn, but there’s no guarantee. I’d suggest saving it for a middle name if you plan on having more kids. It makes a beautiful middle name.

That’s exactly what I’m saying! I have no control over what her friends at school or teachers or family members might nick name her. If people were to just call her Madelyn, then I wouldn’t have such an issue. My husband is the one who is pretty fixated on Madelyn. I think I can talk him into ’Molly’ though ! Thanks for the comments everyone!!

Don’t do Madelyn. It’s way too common. No matter what, Madi will most likely be her nickname. I love Molly. I think it’s so pretty and so underused.
