Opinion on the name Wolfe for a boy!! Please Comment vs. Ridiculous vs. I like it
My brother and his wife are having a baby boy in 2 months. They have chosen the name Wolfe for him. When I heard the name my jaw almost hit the floor. I think it is a ridiculous name for a child. It happens to be my sister-in-laws maiden name but still I think this name is just plain ridiculous for a person...I mean maybe it would be acceptable for a dog or a WWF wrestler if it is spelled (Wolf)...I think people go over board with the "family names." They recently adopted a dog and named him "Bosworth" and that is her mothers maiden name. To each his own but please comment on what you think of the name Wolfe for a little boy. Thank you,
Wolfe’s very bewildered aunt

By the way if you think I’m mean I do understand but the kid will have to live with his name. I am not the only one who was shocked by their choice...pretty much everyone was but no one said anything because in the end it is their choice. We will learn to love the name I’m sure =).

I also think it would be a great nickname no matter what the name is, but...this is their baby, not yours, and to pitch a fit over a name is ridiculous. This is family, for crying out loud! If they choose to name him Wolfe, so be it! And, Wolfe is a common nickname for Wolfgang, a German/Austrian common name. Sorry to sound harsh...must be the pregnancy hormones! I am sure that when you hold baby Wolfe, you won’t care anymore what his name is! Good luck!

I hope you don’t take my comment as rude...I just feel strongly that if the parents choose a name with a special meaning...it shouldn’t matter to the rest of the family...and family is more important than a name! Good luck with everything!

If it bothers you so much perhaps you can politely suggest that it would make a better middle name, because as a first name it could create some teasing...I could see some kids making fun of him at school by howling.

I just had a flash of the future! Wolfe is the star of the football/baseball/basketball/soccer team. His teammates cheer him on, showing their support, calling out Go Wolfie! OOOWWWOOO (howling in support)...how awesome is that?

I work at a private school and I know a boy name Foxx, no joke. He gets a lot of heat over the name. I reckon Wolfe would get similar treatment in school. The animal jokes, teasing and what not.

Would you like it if you brother and sister-in-law decided to talk about the name you put loads of thought into?
Seriously how rude do you get? it isn’t even your kid so get over it.

I would hardly say they put loads of thought into the name if they are naming him after her sister-in-laws maiden name. I think that is sort of the point here. Just using a family name because its a family name and putting no thought into what the child will go through with that name. He may not be as proud of the Wolfe family name as his mother apparently is. You know what I’m saying?

i actually like it. it’s unique. kids will find a way to tease someone anyway. and when wolfe gets older, he’ll like the originality of his name. plus it has meaning to it. that counts for something. good luck to your brother and his wife.

Wolfe is a German name. It’s not ridiculous, you’re just uncultured.

My son is called Wolfe . We live in London . He is now almost 4 years old. He’s the most gorgeous kind boy and has many friends . Everyone remembers his name and it suits him perfectly. He has a little brother called Forrest. Your brother and sister in law are looking to give their son’s name meaning , which is fab!
