It’s pretty but I still think a more formal fn is nice to have as a woman.
Katelyn is cute, Katarina, Katja

Kate isabella is perfect. Kate on its own is just as good as Katherine.

I love the name Kate! One of my favorite names is Kate Erica. It ages fantasticly and is adorable! I used to go to school with a Kate (reall name was Kaitlyn, but we always called her Kate) and she was the queen bee of the school, but still really nice. The name reminds me of her, so I’ve always loved it!

Seems kinda plain to me.
I prefer Kaitlyn or Katherine, nn Kate.

If you’re going to do Katelyn, I would recommend spelling it Katelyn or Katelin (or Katelynn, etc.) if you want to use the nickname Kate. It just makes things easier. My name is Katelyn and I usually go by Kate, and I like that I’ve never had to worry about whether to spell it Kait or Cait or Cate.

That said, I think Kate is fine on it’s own. It is a nickname, but it’s a pretty formal one, unlike, say, Katie.

Actually poster above, spelling it Katelyn does not guarentee she will be called Kate. Like I said, I went to school with a Kate and she spelled her name Kaitlyn, but she was just always called Kate. I also went to school with another Katelyn that spells her nname like you suggested and she was called Katie. So spellings really have nothing to do with it in this case.I’d go with Kate if you for sure want her to be called Kate, because with Kaitlyn she will pick whether she want’s to be called Kate, Katie, or just Kaitlyn.
