Jaime/Jamie Ann vs. Jaime/Jamie Lynn vs. Jaime/Jamie Rae

Hi, I’m pregnant with a little girl, due May 3, 2008. My husband and I have narrowed down the choices to four that we like best. The one we’re probably going to end up using is "Jamie" but I’m not sure how to spell it. I don’t like the "creative" spellings...that’s just confusing to do to your child. The ones we’re considering are Jaime (especially because J’aime means ’I love’ in French) and Jamie. We’ve had people tell us that Jaime is the girl version and Jamie is the boy version, while others told us both are neutral. Also, vote on the middle name. I want it girly since "Jamie" can be a boy name, so she can use her middle name also (such as Jamie Ann), or just the middle name if she hates the name Jamie. We’ve narrowed the middle names for "Jamie" down to three: Ann (if we use this one, it’s going to be Ann, not Anne because my mother’s name is Ann), Lynn (I’m worried about this one because she might be teased because of Jamie Lynn Spears), and Rae. I’d be open to other girly middle name suggestions as long as they’re only one syllable (or maybe two, but we’d prefer one...no three or more syllable suggestions please). Thanks! ~Cate (P.S.-My hubby’s name is Andrew).

I like either spelling, but I voted for Ann as the middle name because Rae, spelled as Ray, can also be a boy’s name. I’ve even heard of Lynn as a boy’s name, but I mainly didn’t vote on that because your daughter COULD possibly be teased about having the name Jamie Lynn.

I have a little girl whos name is Jamie, Jamie Marie as a matter of fact so I am kind of partial to Jamie Marie but Jamie Lynn is really cute....

Jamie Marie is cute too. I’ll consider that too.

great then if you use Jamie Marie that will be my choice.

if you named your child Jamie Lynn, then she probably will get teased at school (since the Spears sisters aren’t exactly great rolemodels). I think Jamie/J’amie Rae sounds good though.

Jaime Ann gets my vote...

and to one of the previous posters..
Lynn actually is used as a guys name also.
Usually when I have heard it it was a middle name but I did know one Lyn man and took care of another. It just isnt super common anymore.

lynn was in the top boys names list until 1986. - Just a quick name fact.

Jamie Lynn is probably the most common Jamie combination out there. Who knows what the Spears sisters will be doing in a couple of years, so she may or may not get comments about Jamie Lynn Spears, but I’d still stay away from it.

I like family names in the middle, so I would go with Jamie Ann.

My favorites are:
Jamie Marta
Jamie Sophie/Sophia
Jamie Gemma
Jamie Carol
Jamie Ashley
Jamie Judith
Jamie Gisele
Jamie Anne/Ann
Jamie Sarah
Jamie Alexandra
Jamie Sylvia
Jamie Naomi
Jamie Caroline

p.s.- Jaime/Jamie are always a feminine form of James. I like those names very much and I think they are very feminine.
The french form of Jaime/Jamie is Jacqueline.
