We are thinking about naming our daughter Gabriela/Gabriella. But, we don’t know a lot about the name and what nationality it comes from, its meaning etc. Can you please give us a little info on this name? Also, which spelling do you like better? Thanks for the help!

Personally, I don’t hold much to the meanings of names.
I like it spelled the original way, Gabriella. It looks incomplete with only one L. I know that in my family (we’re a big Italian family), we have a few Gabriella’s scattered about the gene-pool so I’m sure it has some Italian meaning.

I am italian and my husband is not. He left the naming of my daughter up to me. He didn’t care which name i would choose. I chose Gabrielle. I love the name. I also like Gabriella. Now, i’m wondering if I made a mistake because my daughter does look italian and Gabriella is the italian version. I know my italian mother would have wanted it that way. Can’t go back and change it now.

I'm Spanish (born in the USA) and my sisters name is Gabriela, which I think is more of a Spanish version of the name while Gabriella is more of the Italian version
