Rex vs. full vs. names

My husband and I love the name Rex for our baby boy due soon! However we think it’s more a nickname than a full name. Any ideas for the full name that could have it as a nickname? Thanks!

The first thing that came to my mind was Ryan... both Ryan and Rex start with R, and Rex means "king" and Ryan means "little king."

Rex is handsome. I can’t think of a full name with Rex as the nickname. Maybe do a R first name and a middle name beginning with X, so the initials are RX and you could call him Rex. It’s just an idea, but honestly I think it’d be better to just name him Rex. What about the name Dexter nn Dex? I guess you could use the nickname Rex for Dexter too.

Personally I think just Rex on its own is fantastic. I think its a short form of Reginald?
