It honestly does not sound like a real name. Is it?

Yeah you’d have to put the names separate or it looks like it’s pronounced different.

I hate it, sorry. All I hear is "Honah Lee" from Puff the Magic Dragon.
Hana (prn Hahn-uh instead of han-uh, Japanese meaning "blossom") with the middle name Leigh would be better. Same sounds, but she’ll go by her first name most of the time so you won’t get that Peter, Paul, and Mary reference.

Thanks, didn’t realize the reference to Puff the Magic Dragon. I’d stumbled upon the name today and it sounded pretty but I wanted your opinions. Its supposedly a German or Slavic name. I suppose its back to the drawing board, thoigh i do like Hanna, so we’ll keep it in mind.
Thanks a bunch!!

My name is Hannelie, born South African. People struggle to pronounce it, but I have only had compliments about my name. I also get Han, Lee or Hannah. It is a very common name in South Africa. Got it from my grandmother that was Hannatjie. I enjoy the fact that people cannot pronounce it! The Australian s and Americans that got the pronunciation right, it does sound good. A pitty that some are so narrow minded to think of puff the magic dragon or hannibal!

My daughter's name is Hannelie. Her dad is Dutch South African...it is a very common name in South Africa. Many people here in US do have trouble pronouncing it though. Her dad picked the name. Most people call her Hannah or Hannah Lee. Like a first and middle name, Which is fine. In South Africa it is pronounced Hahn "nellie."Here we say Han nellie. It's pronounced like saying half of Hannah; Han/with nellie.....Hannelie. The name means merciful and gracious. My daughter is loving and kind...she is as unique and beautiful as her name.
