Nicknames for vs. Bellerophon?
Hey! We’re adopting a little boy, and we’re really excited, and we love him so much, but he’s pretty old already, and he already has the name Bellerophon. We don’t want to change his name since he’s so old, but we would like a more casual nickname. Can you come up with any?

How old is he? Does he have a middle name? Many people go by their middle names. Congrats by the way!

Billy is nice and a more formal Bill if needed. May I ask how old he is?

Well Billie is a nick name for Belinda so I suppose Billy or Bill could work for Bellerophon. Bo and Beller are nice too. And the suggesting of him going by his middle name if he has one is a good idea too, imo. Do you know what culture Bellerophron comes from. It is so unique and unusual.

I dislike Bill, and he’s nine. :) Finn sounds really cute, but are you sure it’s not too far off?

Bellerophon is a name from Greek mythology. He was a demigod (son of Poseidon) who captured Pegasus and accomplishing many heroic deeds had favor with the gods, was made a king loved by all, until he decided to ride Pegasus to Mt. Olympus and visit the gods. Zeus sent a gadfly to sting the winged horse. Bellerophon survived the fall but was crippled and spend the last of his days wandering the earth alone, banished because of his offence to the gods. I like the name, but I have a huge fascination with mythology. Nicknames could be Bill, Bo, Larry, or Rufus. They are a bit of a stretch but they are nice. GL and Congrats. :)

ask him what he thinks of a name change. He is old enough to make his own decision...if he wants a name change, have him help pick it out. If not, then discuss the nn options with him.
