Help with baby girl vs. names using Tommy
Hi, everyone! I am pregnant with my first child, a girl and I need help naming her. I would really love to use Tommy somewhere in her name after my brother who is no longer with us. My whole family loves the idea of naming her Tommy but I’m not sure how to make it work for a girl and none of us like the name Thomasina. So please give me some ideas that would incorporate the name Tommy somewhere in it. ~Tara

My exboyfriend’s mom’s name was Tommy. It actually wasn’t even short for anything, her name was just Tommy. I think Tommy would be ok. Or you could spell it like Tommie. You could also even name her Tammy or Tammie. It’s close, and it’s more feminine. I hope you are able to come up with a name you love! Congrats & God Bless!:)

Tamsin is one idea (short for Thomasina).
By all means though, use a name you love. Tommy can always be a middle name or second middle name. Don’t feel pressured to name her something you don’t want to. You can always use Tommy for a boy’s name if you have one :)

I know this is not at all the same thing, but is there a girl’s name you know your brother loved? If you know of a girl’s name your brother loved, maybe you could use it. it’s still kinda something you’d be doing for your brother, just a little different. It may be easier than using a Tom kind of name. Just an idea! Best wishes to you!

Why don’t you go for the initials T.O.M.(Last name) and call her Tommy for short? I think that would be lovely.
T names:
Tabitha
Tamara (sweet because it actually has your name in there as well)
Thea
Thora
Thalia
Tatiana (if you want something a bit girlier)
Tanya
Theadora
Tessa (love this)
Tiffany
Trudy
O names:
Olivia
Olive
Odette
Ophelia
Opal
Ottilie
M names:
Madeline/Madeleine/Madelyn
Mirabelle
Maeve
Mae/May
Matilda
Magnolia
Maisie
Michaela
Margot
Maxine
Megan
Molly
I think some of my favourite combinations would be:
Tessa Odette Magnolia (Tommy)
Tamara Olivia Molly (Tommy)
Tatiana Opal Matilda (Tommy)
Best of luck to you! Sorry for the super-long comment.

Have you considered a hyphenated name like:
Tommy-Anne
Tommy-Shay
Tommy-Kate
Tommy-Wren
Tommy-Brynn
Tommea
Tomara
Tomera
Tomanda
Tomavery
Tomlynn
Tomava
Tomeve
Some I know are a bit weird, but you might find something you like.

The only names I can think of that my brother liked are Carol Rose, because of our grandmother, and River, he joked about naming his daughter that but I think he really did like it.

Maybe look at going with a T first name and an M middle name, and use nn Tommy as a pet name for at home? Eg Tabitha May nn Tommy
