Names vs. similar to vs. Molly
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always wanted to name a future daughter Molly. However, now that I’m married and expecting, Molly doesn’t work with the last name (Murray). Can we have suggestions on names similar in style to Molly that we may like? Thank you!

Why not just use a middle name to balance the flow, its not like first and last names are really said together that often. If you truly love it its not that big a deal. Holly is similar if not.

We like we like Kate and Hadley quite a bit. We like Caroline, as well, but it is taken by another family member. Thanks!!

Yes, first and last names are said together very often. In my experience, middle names are the ones that are rarely used.
Personally I don\’t have a problem with Molly Murray though. It\’s a little matchy, but in a cute way more than a silly way.

To the poster who suggested using it anyway, and anyone else- Do you think the name Molly Murray is just too much or is it still doable? We adore the name Molly, but are wishy washy in terms of the flow with our last name. Thanks for the help!!

I don’t think its really a big deal, surnames are not really used that frequently (at least on a day to day basis).

I think Molly Murray is perfectly acceptable and cute! Most of the time just first names are used, and she won’t have Murray as a last name for her entire life most likely. If you love it, use it!

Mary Murray would be too much for sure, but maybe not Molly. How do you pronounce Murray? Molly Mer-RAY sounds amazing. Molly Mer-REE is a little more iffy but I like how it rolls off the tongue.

I think Molly Murray is doable.
I don’t agree with the people saying you don’t often use/hear surnames though. I think surnames are important/used and heared a lot.

Molly Murray is actually adorable. I think it’d be perfectly acceptable to use it, I know plenty of people whose first and last names start with the same letter. Just use a one syllable or three+ syllable middle name to balance it out, like Molly Claire Murray or Molly Elizabeth Murray.

Thank you all for your suggestions and helpful advice. We are definitely going to think it over some more. But, the more we contemplate it, the more we think our daughter’s name will be Molly. We truly appreciate all of your help!

I think Molly Murray is okay too, and I usually am the first to veto names cause they don’t flow or are too rhymey. Something about it is charming.

What about a double first name?
Molly-Mae
Molly-Rose
Molly-Kate
But I agree that Molly Murray is adorable!
