Is vs. Eunice vs. a pretty name?
I’ve always loved the name Eunice. It’s sweet, and feminine, and has a lovely sound to it. But my husband says it’s old-fashioned, and my MIL says that it’s a boy’s name. I’m expecting a daughter, but my husband likes Rosamunda and my MIL likes Taylor. Help me! Are they right? - Kimberly

No. It reminds me of a really old, wrinkly lady.

I’ve only known one Eunice and have bad associations with the name, but I prefer it to Rosamunda and Taylor (especially Taylor, I have never liked this name for a girl OR boy).

My name is Taylor and I like my name but, it`s become one of those names that is easily associated with boy or girl which is the only downfall for me. I find Rosamunda to be a mouthfull. Eunice is just not for me

Rosamunda is awful!

Best of luck! I hope you find something you love.

Eunice is dreadful. It does sound like an old lady. Rosamunda is worse, since it’s too long and sounds weird. Taylor is fine just really popular. How about:
Rosalie
Jessica
Lucie
Jenna
Sydney
Rosie
Kiara
Felicity
Sophia
Grace
Roxanne
Morgan
Skylar
Hannah
Josie
Samantha
Diana

Eunice is pretty, but it’s not gonna be everybody’s cup of tea. It is a girl name. I like it. I would pair it with something common like Marie or Kate, for example. Rosamunda sounds more old fashioned than Eunice and, yes, it is a mouthful. Rosamund, however, I like quite a lot. I would probably pass on Taylor or use it as a middle name.

Im not a fan of Eunice, it does sound very old and along the same lines as Agnes and Gertrude.
Rosamunda looks odd but drop the ’a’ and Rosamund is gorgeous. Your husband may also like Rosalind.
My bestfriend is named Taylor, my name is Jordan and we have both run into the same issues with having a more masculine unisex names - constantly being mistaken for boys ect. So neither of us would recommend unisex names for a girl.
You might like;
Lydia
Delilah
Magdalene
Gwendolyn
Matilda
Maeve
Mabel
Hazel
Josephine
Madeleine
Guinevere
Harriett
Eugenia
Beatrice
Charlotte
Colleen
Collette
Cosette
Or you and your husband could write a list of your top 10-20 names and see if any over lap. It is your choice with your husband, really you MIL’s wishes don’t need to be a factor in your decision. Just pick a name you and your husband love. Good luck

Eunice is a Greek name, also found in the Bible, pronounced you niece is the correct pronunciation, and I’m sure you know it’s meaning of being victorious, (of course in everything you do) it was my mothers name and she was Maltese, and she passed her name to me, so it’s my name too.
Good luck with whatever you decide, I’m sure it will suit your lil cherub

To everyone who thinks Eunice is ugly, dreadful, or masculine I vehemently disagree! I agree with you Kimberly. Rosamunda seems a bit odd. I find Eunice to be beautiful, charming, delicate, graceful, feminine, wholesome, and euphonic. I find it to be the most under-appreciated biblical name I have ever seen. The fact that it’s old-fashioned makes it unique, and I mean the true definition of unique, not the kind of "unique" like Khloe, Kinsley, Madison, Harper, Brayden, Caden, Jayden, Raiden, Zayden (yes that one’s real), and, ugh... Nevaeh! It doesn’t have the humdrum sound of the overly used Ariana, it’s not weird and infantile sounding like Grayson, Brooklyn, Piper and Jayla, and it doesn’t have the utter hippie sound of Serenity and Genesis, If people like names like that simply because their new, there must be something wrong with them. Although names like Isabella, Emma and Olivia are quite traditional, it seems like EVERY baby girl has this name. It doesn’t have the harshness of name like Agatha or Beulah either, which would make anyone tilt an eyebrow (Eunice isn’t really even that old-fashioned, it was in the top 1000 until the 80’s). I actually recently saw a baby named Eunice, and it was like a deep breath of fresh mountain air in a sea of trendy pollution and bland over usage. I believe anyone who met another baby named Eunice would feel the same way. I can honestly see this on any age, a beautiful newborn infant, a cute Shirley Temple grade-schooler, a sweet, tranquil teenager, a kind, loving housewife, an even-tempered, nurturing mother, and a warm, good-hearted grandmother. And when her children are old, they’ll remember Eunice as a wonderful mother, who left a legacy of goodness and love. That is what I see in a name like Eunice. If you choose this name for your daughter, she can be proud of it, proud of the "good victory" she will have in life, proud of the sweet, kind sound this name has, and proud of the parents who bestowed this gem upon her.

↑↑↑WOW!!!! Thank u!!!! My name is Eunice (: and I love my name!!! I was named after my father’s favorite aunt. He said she had the most beautiful soul. She was VERY kind and cared so much about people! Everybody thought she was like mother Tresa or Nightingale lol Id describe myself as a warm person too! I’m very emotional lol but I do care about people a lot. A lot of elderly people love my namelol but a lot of young people can’t even spell my name right lol So yeah! Love the name Eunice! I love the name Eunice! My family has always used traditional names and this is a great way to use an understated name that is still keeping with tradition! I may have to use it myself someday!
