Kara Joy vs. Cara Joy
This is the name we have decided on, but which spelling? In past polls, Kara has been the popular choice, but I am leaning to Cara because my daughter’s name is Kate, and this would give the girls different first initials. My mom almost named me Cara, so that is why I chose Cara over Kara. I just want to make sure Cara Joy Sullivan looks as pretty as Kara Joy Sullivan to other people. I have always been complimented on my kids’ names and I want our last baby’s name to be just as beautiful. Siblings are Ashley Katherine (Kate), Owen Charles (Owen), and Zachary Alan (Zach). Thanks for your comments. No rude comments, please!

Your daughter’s first name is Ashley though, so technically Kate is just a nickname and won’t be written down with Kara much.

In your situation, I would keep with Cara since your daughter goes by Kate, because Kate and Kara are too close. However, Kara is a variant of Katherine, you could always tell her that she was named after her big sister. As far as the initials CJ that someone posted, that is great initials for a boy but it doesn’t matter for a girl unless you are going to call her that. I personally have decided to go with Kara because my name is Kim and I want another K, plus my mother is named Cathey and like I said Kara is a variant of Kathryn. Anyway, I hope that helped. By the way, where did you get Joy from. I thought of Kara Brynn, Kara Faith, Kara Ashlie, etc. Just wondering?

Kara Monet, Kara Monique, Kara Madison, Kara Madylynn. etc.
Cara kind of reminded me of CAR-AH too and it is older than Kara. Kara is English and Cara is either Welsh or Irish I believe.

I would go with Kara Ashlie, seeings how her daughter’s name is Ashley.
Go with Kara Joy. Kara is more modern and Cara is so old-fashioned it really needs to catch up with the times. Especially if you call your daughter a modern name like Kate, I would give your daughter an old fashioned spelling. Kara is obviously the best choice.
