Nickname For vs. Dorothy Rose

I want the name Dorothy Rose by I can’t find a cute modern nickname. I don’t want Dory because that reminds me of the fish and I don’t want her nickname to be assiodated with Rose. I just want something to go with Dorothy. Thanks!

I don’t really like the name, but my husband does and the rest of my family does. I named my son, Cross Evan, so he gets to name this one. We have Cross Evan, Ashleigh Willow (I named this one too), and Sarah Lilah (he named her). We take turns and I don’t like the name Dorothy really. That’s why I want a modern nickname

Dot or Dottie or Thea are the normal nn for Dorothy. I guess you could call her Daisy..type of flower that starts with a "D" if you wanted something that was a play on her name. I like Thea but I would associate that with Dorothea more than Dorothy. Just my personal feeling on that one. Good Luck!

DR, kind of like TJ? Really boyish though, but I couldn’t think of anything else that wasn’t already suggested.

I’m having the same problem. My daughter will be Dorothy Laura - all my husband’s choice. I’ve been calling her Dot (and may have purchased an insane amount of polka dot onesies.) Dorothy is an adorable name - it’s just not mainstream enough for everyone.

I realize that these posts are quite a while back however I just wanted to add my comments. My name is Dorothy. My family and good friends call me Doe. People sometimes call me Dot without asking but I always tell them please don’t. I don’t care for Dot. Frankly it’s too typical. The name’s claim to fame of course is the Wizard of OZ so she will hear a lot of "Where’s Toto?". One more thing, Dorthy is not a nickname it is a misspelling. I’m sure you already know it means Gift of God. :)

My name is Dorothy, and my family nickname is Doff, or Doffy. I was told it was a common nickname for Dorothy, but can't find any reference to it. Has anyone else heard of Doff?

I know a few people with the name Dorothy. About 3 of them all liked the nick name Doff, so I know a Doff, a Doffy, a Dobby (The Harry Potter fan), and a Dot (with all of them when they have those face-palm kind of errors, we call them Doy).
