Andi vs. Andie vs. Andy
Which spelling do you like best for a little girl? We absolutely love the name Andi for a girl, her middle name will most likely be Elizabeth, and we need help deciding on a spelling. My hubby thinks that Andie is more complete, and even though I definitely see where he’s coming from I really can’t seem to let go of the spelling Andi. Our family absolutely hate the name for a girl(and a boy for that matter. They also hate her middle name, claiming it is too old fashioned), and say that if we’re going to use the name we should at least spell it properly (enter sigh), but we love the name and despite the family conflict we’re using it, we changed the spelling in the hopes that, even though it is a unisex, admittedly more of a boys name, we could make it look more feminine. Which do you think would be best?

I love Andi for a girl. Our neighbor named their little girl Andi Nicole when I was growing up, and I always thought it was the prettiest name. I think Andi is just fine, and Andi Elizabeth is adorable. She is your daughter, name her what you like. They have already named their children. It is your turn!

Honestly, I’d name her Alexandra nn Andie so she can have more options as an adult working in a professional field, but I like the spelling Andie best.

Andy looks too masculine. I think Andi looks a bit more like it would be her nickname, rather than her full name, but there’s really nothing wrong with it. Andie does look more complete, and looks more like a full name. So, while I slightly prefer Andie, I think Andi might work just as well. I always thought Andi/Andie would be cute for a girl, too. I also love the middle name Elizabeth; it’s a classic, not old-fashioned! You and your husband picked a beautiful name, never let anyone tell you otherwise! :-)

Thankyou for the positive comments guys :) it means alot to us. And 3rd poster, we appreciate your opinion, but to us Alexandra just isn’t a name we love. We want to use Andi/Andie as a full name and not just a nickname, but thankyou :)

I personally do not care for this name on a girl, but I agree with the second poster...name her what you like. I would not tell my family the baby’s name until the baby is born just to avoid negative comments. Out of your spelling options, I like Andie best and Andi second best. Andy is too masculine. Good luck!
