Elena would always be pronounced EEE-leeena. With the hard e’s. She will be correcting people all the time.

My names is Ellen and my daughter is Elena. My name english speakers get as e-len. Elena is a fairly common name in latin languages (like Spanish and Italian) and in Eastern European languages, in both it is said E-lAna. In the US English speakers generally got her name correct (maybe because they had encountered it). Here in Australia, she frequently gets e-len-a. If you want e-len-a I would suggest spelling it Ellena or Ellenna. If you spell it Elena, she will have likely have to correct people a lot. I have not run into the Ellenna spelling, but that would likely get pronounced correctly (if not always spelled correctly).
