do you still love vs. your child’s name? vs. any regrets?

Hi, I’m pregnant for the first time and we’re having a girl :) which is great, but I love so many girl names for her that I’m worried I’ll regret the name I do eventually pick, as the names I love tend to change every few weeks :) there are of course names I still and probably will always like, but I don’t want to name my baby something and then start liking another name alot more :/ and I know I might have more kids in the future after our baby girl, but the names I like are all different styles, and so the name I picked for a second baby etc. Would have to match the style of the first. Wdyt? Did anyone else experience this? Do you wish you had named your child something else? Thanks for any help, Livi.

I had the same problem. I ended up having a small list of names I loved, stopped looking and then chose one when my daughter was born. Good luck!

I had a name that I loved and really wanted to use by my husband and family convinced me of Daniel instead. And people on this site and others told me I’d really regret not using the name I loved, but you know what? I’m happy we chose Daniel. I think it really suits my son. And the name I was going to choose, well, there’s a boy in his school with the name and now looking at it I think I made the right choice not using it. If you’re anything like me, then you’ll grow to love the name more and more because you’ll only associate it with your child and that will make you love it more than other names.

I like a lot of names too. In my case my bf only liked a few so we didn’t really have a hard time. My kids don’t have a theme. This is my 3rd child. My first two are Oceana and Mason. GL!

Style wise I don’t think you have to worry too much about it. My kids names have very different styles. I have never thought anything of it. Just pick names you love!

We took a whole list of names to the hospital when our first was born, because as a first-time mom I was SO in love with so many names I just couldn’t make up my mind. As soon as I held her, I knew which one was her name and hubby agreed. She’s 5 now and her name just fits her so well!

Don’t worry about "style." Go with names you love. If you love Aria for this little girl (just for an example!) name her that. If baby #2 is a girl and you decide you want to name her Margaret, that’s okay too!

Yes, but I have OCD and if the styles didn’t match it would really honestly irritate me forever. So the styles in my case would literally have to match :) but I’m probably over thinking this. We might take a list with us and see what name comes to mind :) thanks alot for the help everyone!

Your children’s names do NOT have to match in style. Sometimes people get stuck in that mentality and then pass up names they really like. My suggestion would be to narrow your girls’ names down to 4 to take with you to the hospital. Wait until you’ve held your daughter in your arms and just see which name seems to fit. (and if it turns out to be a completely different name, go with it).
