Khaleesi Daenerys vs. Daenerys Khaleesi vs. Khaleesa Daenerys

Yes, we are serious! My husband is a huge fan of the books, and introduced me to the show. I love the name; the sound, the spelling. And I love the Dathraki word for Queen or wife of tthe Khal. We are willing to modify Khaleesi to Khaleesa. Whih works best? ~ Leah & Josh

I love it! My daughter will be named Daenerys as well. Personally, I wouldn’t change Khaleesi to Khaleesa because it’s so beatiful as Khaleesi.

My cousin’s dog is named Khaleesi after the show. I actually quite like it. I can’t pronounce Daenerys or whatever it is, and don’t care for it much at all. It is one thing to use one name from a beloved series, but both names? It’s a bit much.

Daenerys will be really popular for the next few years. I would avoid it and go with something Greek or more original. It is a made up name so everyone will know exactly where it is from

Thankyou, it really is a beautiful name! We were unsure of the amount of vowels in Khaleesi Daenerys Lachlan. We thought the ’a’ on Khaleesa made it more constant - glad.to hear it can work as its original!

Second commentor, if you would suggest paring middle that flows with Khaleesi? The medieval feel of the characters two titles, we think , is really pretty. Oh its pronounced "Dah-ni-russ-"

We did some research and Daenerys is currently rare. Khaleesi is uprising. But I don’t doubt that you’re right ; however we aren’t ashamed of its fictional origin. :)

Id use Daenerys as a first name and pair it with another name you like. Im not a fan at all of Khaleesi or Khaleesa, for some reason it just brings to mind Wiz Khalifa. I like your pronounciation of Duh ni russ but ive also heard it Day-uh-nair-riss which I think it pretty also. GL

Hm. If anyone could suggest a second name that Worka we would entertain it :)

Im the above poster, id like to clear up that I dont like the spelling of Khaleesi and Khaleesa. It looks trendy and young. Perhaps if it were Calisa or Kalece/Kalecie/Calise, thoughts? Its hard to spell Khaleesi in a traditional looking way.

Stuck on the spellings. Love Khaleesi and Khaleesa ourselves. :) ~ Leah & Josh (realize it might be confusing without our signature)

I think both names will present enormous difficulties for teachers and employers to spell and pronounce them, especially when the fandom for the book series and tv show dies down in a few years. I would maybe keep Daenerys as a middle name because they aren’t used as often.

Lara Daenerys
Alexandra Daenerys
Alice Daenerys
Lucy Daenerys
Ramona Daenerys
Cecelia Daenerys
Theodora Daenerys
Persephone Daenerys
Elise Daenerys
Sunny Daenerys
Katherine Daenerys
Evangeline Daenerys

We are not big on the overused names in that list sorry. As well, Persephone and Theodora aren’t at all up our alley.

Not worried about the popularity, as we like the names regardless of the show.

Fellow GoT fan here: I think Daenarys is beautiful and would be a great first name, but Khaleesi/Khaleesa would honestly be a very ugly name. Also:

Arianne
Arya
Brienne
Cersei
Jeyne
Lyanna
Margaery
Myrcella
Osha
Sansa (actually a real Sanskrit name!)
Ygritte

Yay, I love Game of Thrones! I’ve always thought Daenarys was pretty and actually usable as a name in real life! Have to agree with other posters though--- Khaleesi and Khaleesa aren’t pretty at all. I’d definitely use Daenarys, but pass on Khaleesi. How about other female characters? Arya might be too popular for you to use, what with Aria becoming really common but you might like these combinations!

Daenarys Brienne
Daenarys Margaery
Daenarys Ygritte (Ygritte is such a kickass character, so my vote would be this!)
Cersei Daenarys
Sansa Daenarys

Oops, *Daenerys. Awkward, I’ve been reading the books for years and I can’t even remember the spelling. Hahaha, oh well.
